Sophie & Damien~
We started off with bombs in the pool with the boys at Horseshoe Bend – what a epic location for the bridal party to all get ready together, by far my favourite Wanaka property for prep!
I so loved all the little details like the the cute little invitations with their photos on, to the beautiful ribbons on the flowers. Sophie looked like a dream and all the boys wore black tie.
The ceremony was at Rippon Vineyard and Hall, and it did not disappoint with beautiful views. The long walk down the aisle was to the most beautiful symphony of music which echoed around the hills of Wanaka – I don’t think there were many dry eyes in the house.
As the ceremony finished the rain set in and I really thought the heli would be cancelled, but the epic pilot at Aspiring got us up to a new location I hadn’t photographed at before. It was so worth it, and even though the rain continued to fall Sophie and Damien were so positive – not a word of being cold they put an amazing smile on their face and battled the rain. It really shows that if you’re happy your photos will be amazing no matter the weather! Sophie was seriously the happiest bride she was laughing and smiling all day what a photographers dream!
Sophie wrote to me this morning and I spent a solid 15 minutes laughing at her explanation of the photo shoot:
“You turned into a little mountain goat on that peak – scrambling up and down to get the right light.”
The one far way shot I had to navigate down a 100+ meter steep incline with my gear on hoping that I didn’t slip to get the shot but it was worth it – on the way up the hill I was literally climbing with my hands to get back to the top!
Artisan catering put on an amazing feast for all the guests and the beautiful cakes were by Peppermint Kitchen. Damien’s speech was a highlight of the night he had saved every letter from their relationship and shared some of them with everyone, it was so beautiful to see that he had kept so many of their love notes!
