What is your photographic style?

So a little bit about me…

For most of your wedding day, I photograph things as they’re happening, in a Journalistic/Documentary-style. I don’t work solely in one particular style though, as I am very much a creative and artistic photographer too and like to bring an on-trend look into my imaging. I pay a lot of attention to details and the way things are styled – this is why I request a minimum of 2.5 hours pre-wedding ceremony to capture this part of the day.

I do give a wee bit of creative direction in the couples photos to get the best photos of your special day and have you looking your best.

I also believe that happy people make beautiful photos, so if you’re happy you will look amazing !

I am almost entirely a natural light photographer, by using fast prime lenses I am able to keep shooting in most lighting conditions, without resorting to flash – I do pull out the flash for dance floor pics because who doesn’t like good dance party pics!

My editing style is inspired by film photography with soft pastels and earthy tones.

I do like to have fun and I do like to joke around, I love to laugh and have fun! I can also be serious when I need to be when it comes to your ceremony and family photos I work efficiently so things run smoothly. I’m very organised and think this makes your day less stressful if we have a good plan!

I love photographs filled with emotion and love – I will make you kiss, so don’t even try and get out of it :P. I want you to let down your walls and be in the moment. Make sure you look at my blog and photos and see if you connect with what I deliver to clients as I try to stay away from cheesy and deliver trendy and unique!

I won’t copy other photographers photos – I will photograph your day uniquely for you so your photos are one of a kind!

I will answer your emails quickly,  I will probably cry on your wedding. I’m in this with you as a friend, not just a photographer!

If you said yes to all of the above I think we will be a perfect match!

Wedding’s can take between 6-8 weeks in wedding season. If I am in the unlikely event I am running behind in peak times, I will keep in direct contact with you about the status of your gallery.

Yes, I do! I have a few options available to my clients! I can supply beautiful monogrammed flush-mount albums in both linen or leather monogrammed covers. If you would like to check them out head over to my album page here for photos and swatches.

Queensberry offer framed and unframed options and will be delivered to your home if you’re not from Wanaka! Do you travel for weddings?

Yes I do! I would love to travel everywhere my wedding prices on my website include travel within Wanaka. I just ask you cover me and my second shooters expenses such as petrol, flights or accommodation if it’s further afield.

I usually have a flat fee of $150 NZD for shoots in Queenstown/Arrowtown/ Cromwell, Bannockburn etc to cover my travel expenses. I love to photograph throughout Central Otago: Queenstown, Cromwell, Omakau, Arrowtown and as far as The Catlins! I wouldn’t say no to an overseas adventure either!

What about if we are shy and awkward in front of the camera?

I have tamed even the most awkward person into cracking a natural smile as long as you can laugh at my jokes you’ll be fine!

When is the best light for photos?

My favourite time to take photos is when the light is beautiful and soft. This happens in the first few hours after sun rise and the last one to two hours before the sunsets (golden hour). I will be happy to help you work on your timeline for your day to organise your day around the best light. I recommend having your ceremony later in the day if possible for best imaging in summmer. In winter make sure to check sunset timing because no one wants to do couples photos in the dark!

Should we organise a shot list for you?

If you can supply me with a list of the family photos you want that would be amazing, please allow 3-4 minutes per combination in your timeline. I also recommend having someone (usually the MC) who can help organise family in the right place at the right time.

For the rest of the day, I will capture the day as a storyteller and document the day as it happens naturally. This is achieved best with no list which means we can all relax and you can be present in each moment.

Can we meet before our wedding?

Yes, I love to meet couples at my office here in Wanaka. If you aren’t based in Wanaka we can Skype to discuss your special day!

Do you take a deposit when we book?

I take a non-refundable 25% retainer to hold your date and then the full amount is to be paid 1 month out from your photo shoot. You’ll also receive an online contract to sign and a questionnaire so I can get to know you better!

Will you use our photos on your social media or website?

Yes, I love to share my client’s photos on social media. I’m passionate about creating content on my blog and social media ~ there is nothing better than seeing your story beautiful crafted together and I always do a sneak peek of your session on social media! If you don’t feel comfortable about this please let me know before your wedding or session.

What other suppliers do you work with? Can you recommend florist, hair, makeup, celebrants etc?

I have been so lucky to work with some amazing suppliers during styled shoots and have some amazing vendors I can recommend to you! Once you have booked in with me I will send you my preferred supplier list.

What camera gear do you use?

I shoot on Canon pro gear: Two Mark IV bodies and a Mark iii as my third body back up which my second shooter uses as well. I shoot predominantly on Prime L series lenses.  I made the decision to shoot mostly prime lenses this year as they are fast in low light situations, light and give the beautiful background blur (bokeh) that you see in my imaging. I am also a Canon Professional service member.

Do you work with a second shooter?

For weddings, I work with my husband Bruno as my second shooter. This is subject to his availability at an extra cost, so please inquire for more information. I highly recommend booking the full Charlotte Kiri team for best imaging and candid guest shots.

Will you be at a vendor at any wedding fairs this year?

Yes, I’ll have a stand at  Wild Hearts Wedding Fair in Queenstown on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at The Winehouse. Wild Hearts wedding fairs are trendsetting, show all the latest bridal fashion & I’m so honoured to be part of their vendor’s lineup! I highly recommend all my couples to come along and meet me there and watch the catwalk show! You can see more information on their wedding fair and buy tickets here.

What helicopters do you recommend flying in?

The bigger helicopters maybe a little more expensive, but twin prop helicopters are a lot safer to fly in than the R44 three seaters. Safety is really important to me for my clients, so really recommend booking the larger helicopter options.
